NHS Data Woes

Transcription:

Hello I just wanted to create a quick video, I’ve been reading a blog on the weekly independent and their latest article about the NHS, it got my attention and I suppose it’s really the demand for this paperless system to integrate data management so that they can deal with the backlog I suppose and all the challenges they have been facing. Now I am aware that the NHS spent about £61 million pounds on their website, so why this was not implemented at this time I am unaware. I can only assume that it was down to some sort of security concern or you know something like…from my point of view, from my perspective, if my private information is on a public domain such as the internet, how is going to be secured?

How do I know that the person using this system is not going to leak my information? So I suppose that could have been quite a good reason for this to not be implemented. But at the same time, I know many companies, myself included, I use such systems. I think automation and using umm..data integration these days is imperative, I mean the way APIs have been released to let two pieces of software communicate with each other. I think that is fantastic and I think its really made it accessible for the average company, not need to employ high tech computer people to come in on board to design these systems for them. They have the ability now, to have it outsourced. I mean there are companies out there such as elance, people per hour, loads of different opportunities for you to get the services that you need at a much reduced cost. And I mean I’m all for the NHS using these services and systems.

What I want to know really I suppose is how is it going to be monitored, how are they actually going to monitor this system is being used effectively? But I think it is something that is overdue, and it’s been coming for a long time, and given that they have been told that by 2014 this needs to be integrated. It will be interesting to see how they step up to the task. I think given a good project management system, given something that will actually serve the people that are actually visiting the NHS will benefit both the people and the NHS and the government in turn. I’d like to see it rolled out from the NHS to maybe the job centre and to the other areas. Because I think there is such a strong demand on the government at the moment that to have systems in place that automate this…I think it’s absolutely integral.

4 Reasons why Google Chrome is Hated

4 Reasons why Google Chrome is Hated

The one most important thing that matters when it comes to internet browsing is the browser itself. If you are not happy with your browser, your internet surfing experience might be very inconvenient and irritating in some cases. There are so many browsers which have successfully accomplished a good share of the market. Browsers like Firefox and internet Explorer are ranked at the top of the popularity chart along with the comparatively new Google chrome.

Despite of the fact that, the Internet giant Google Corporation has been able to capture a good share of users, there are so many issues that have been report with Google Chrome. These issues all need to be resolved in order to make it as good as some of the leading browsers.

The first thing that the users need in their browser is options. Options which are likely to make the browsing experience much easier and less time consuming are always favoured by users. This is where Google Chrome has been left in the starting gates. In the name of ensuring simplicity it has overlooked some options and features which users always look for and are available in all other browsers. Features like RSS readers and bookmark managers are missing from Google Chrome and most users hate this about Google Chrome.

There is also an issue with the popular get right download software. If you start a download, you will find the download is hampered with so many files interrupting it.

There is also the lacking of some of the most useful extensions in the Google Chrome browser.

Another major problem with Google Chrome involves one of the most popular email service hotmail. With Google Chrome 1.0.154.42, you will find nothing happens when you click the inbox button while checking the emails. There is also a problem with the left navigation button. Problems like these can prove to be very costly for the Google Chrome browser in the long run.

It’s like when you are out buying wardrobes, there are certain feature it must have to be useful.

Reality of the future?

The BBC UK website recently published online a list of ideas about what the world would be like in 100 years from now. Fascinating and in places disturbing, it featured all kinds of theories, many sounding far-fetched or implausible. Could it be possible, for example, that a person could just simply think about purchasing horse insurance and then quickly do so via the internet? Yes, according to the study, and here were a few other featured ideas which are proving quite popular right now…

1) One currency for everyone: an idea that has already gained some momentum with internet payment companies like Paypal, this one is probably going to happen. Who know how it will affect us, but one thing is for sure, it’s already on the way!

California has long aired its views that it would prefer to remain on its own…

Windows Phone Platform Growth

Arguably, we are about to witness an increasing demand for Apple’s iOS because of its innovative structure, content, well designed menus and so on. However, objectively speaking, there is another OS that might actually conquer the world of technology simply because it would be more reliable, it would be more supported, more spread on devices and more likely to be evolving fast and progressively. And this is the Windows Phone platform which is already running on devices such as Samsung, HTC and Nokia.

HP v Apple

HP v Apple

The competition against Apple’s tablets in the so called tablet war is led by all companies against the Mac products. The reason is that Apple managed to attract the maximum number of consumers with its high quality products and to deliver the best of software and hardware combinations to the people willing to stay in touch with the latest technologies. However, counter activity is seemingly increasing and another sign of this statement is the action of HP – releasing its tablet almost 2 months ago, HP reduces its price with 20% so it can be better sold and attract more people interested in having a tablet.

HP’s tablet incorporates a brand new software developed specially by the company to fuel its products. It is a growing software platform and is yet to be modernized and developed. The app supply to the new tablet is limited as not many apps are currently available for the product. Nevertheless, programmers and people willing to work with HP constantly supply the online app store for the tablet with applications and aim to improve the workability of the device with 50% by applying new applications and developing unique features that would go as updates for the software.

On the other side we have Apple’s iPad – it is brilliant and needs to presentation. Even the Apple Mac support London can offer is greater than the support you can get from any other tablet producer. This is why reducing the price of its product is a step by HP to attract more consumers in the massive fight against Apple products – being a strong corporate and computer technology giant HP might have attracted the attention of users, however they need to accomplish more than a slight decrease in the price of their products.

Satellites and Smartphones

Satellites and Smartphones

Broadband – where would we be without it? As a global community, humanity has become so interconnected online that there are now more satellites pointing down at us then there are pointing out to space watching the stars. In fact an article reported by the BBC in January, reveals plans by Canada to shoot another 78 small satellites into orbit to help support the large models in handling all of the internet traffic. We truly live in a digital age.

One of the many reasons for these extra satellites is to enable you to get access to the internet on your mobile overseas. The amount of data use by travellers across the globe has risen exponentially in the past five years and many broadband companies have resorted to restricting the amount of data space people can use. It’s hardly surprising then that more satellites are being planned. However, this does raise an issue that many gadget lovers and consumers may not be to comfortable with.

In order to take advantage of the fastest broadband whilst travelling, you do need to have the best possible phone to handle it. Nine times out of ten this means investing in a smartphone. Love them or loathe them, they have become an essential part of the industry and amongst the very few models who can handle the speeds and data required for the best broadband use. There are many to choose from and whilst this reviewer was sceptical at first, I did eventually invest in an HTC. They are superior to an iPhone as you don’t experience any compatibility issues with software and downloads.

The Digital Future seems to be already here in the present, and like it or not the smartphone era is here.

Windows 8 Hysteria

Windows 8 Hysteria

The hysteria around the newest Windows promises to be complete. After much considerations on the interface, more of which were fictional and comparative as to the nature of Mac and Windows, the people from Microsoft finally presented their product last week on a special exposition organized by the company. The shock, however, is complete when the interface turned out to be something so revolutionary that we, the users, can just predict the future of technology.

The era of tablets is coming quickly and progressively and this is the reason why the age of mobile computing would require advanced software. Exactly this is what windows are aiming to show. Much has been though of the Windows 8 platform and it was always expected it would be a more advanced version of Windows 7 – however, the shock was complete when the presentation revealed a rather different product – the new software by Microsoft would look more like the Windows 7 Mobile used for tablet computing.

With this move Microsoft makes a clear statement – mobile computing is the next stage of computer evolution. After desktop computers, after laptops and smartphones, the ultimate computing tool would be tablets. No matter whether you are interested in browsing the latest English teaching jobs or looking for a good prospectus of a university course, the tablet computing would be subordinated entirely to your needs. Thus Windows 8 would be addressing these mobile computing demands with advanced interface and quite strong software features. Apparently, the Microsoft people are not out of the competition with Android and Apple’s Mac.

The Samsung Series 9 Super Slim Laptop

The Samsung Series 9 Super Slim Laptop

The Samsung Series 9 Super Slim Laptop has hit the market recently. Though the price of the laptop is somewhat high ($1599/-), it is still lower than the cost of military insurance, and its performance and specifications justify the price.

This laptop has a 13.3 inch display with Super-Bright Plus which goes to make this laptop the perfect for use. Besides this, it has a high processing power (second generation of Intel Core i5 M Processor). Both the display and the look of the laptop are going to keep you and your friends busy for a long time to come. It is made out of Duralumin (which is the same material that is used for making airplanes) and thus is much lighter but stronger than the average laptop. Over and above, the laptop is slim as it is just 0.64 inch.

The Super-Bright Plus display has 400-nit brightness. The LED-backlit screen with its 100,000:1 contrast ratio adds to the picture quality. Besides it has a highly beneficial 160-degree viewing angle. The laptop also has an ambient light sensor for adjusting the brightness automatically in accordance with the lighting condition that emanates from the surrounding areas.

It also features 4GB of RAM and comes with 128GB SSD memory (this is somewhat less for storage) but it is great for performance. The 13.3-inch model runs with Windows 7 Home Premium which looks amazing and wonderful if an Intel HD GT2 graphic card is added to it. Another useful feature is its longer battery life (up to 6.5 hours).

The battery has dual charging methods: (i) The Battery Life Extender Mode which makes the battery last longer, but it also requires a longer recharging time and the (ii) Express Charging Mode which recharges the laptop at a comparatively faster speed, but is not good for the battery life.

The other attractive features of this laptop are USB 3.0 and Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n connectivity. It also comes with a built in WiMAX modem and has 1.5 watt stereo speakers and a 1.5 watt sub-woofer.

However, if the price of the beautiful duralumin made laptop sets you back, then you must wait a little longer, as Samsung is soon launching smaller laptops that may be prized within your budget, but it is bound to have lower specifications, and so if you want to buy a laptop for your use, you should go ahead and buy the Samsung 9 Super Slim without any hesitation.
